Headline has acquired two new titles for its science-fiction list, with commissioning editor John Wordsworth buying three books in a series set in New Orleans, and an official video game tie-in.
Wordsworth acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in three books in the Sentinels of New Orleans series by Suzanne Johnson from Tor Books, as well as an official tie-in to the popular Hitman video games by bestselling author in the US, Raymond Benson, from Random House.
Headline will release the first Johnson novel, Royal Street, an urban fantasy about feisty junior wizard sentinel, Drusilla Jaco, in paperback and as an e-book in September 2012. The next book, River Road, will be released in November.
The Hitman book, Hitman: Damnation, is the official prequel to the game, Hitman: Absolution, following the world's deadliest assassin, known as Agent 47.
Wordsworth said: "I am very excited that Headline will be publishing these titles. Royal Street is simultaneously thrilling, mischievous and utterly charming . . . as well as being a soulful hymn to a rather magical city. I loved it. And Hitman: Damnation is everything I hoped it would be. Agent 47 has already made the leap onto the cinema screen, and I'm sure that the fans of the game will relish reading this tale of betrayal, corruption and carnage."
