Headline buys Hannigan

Headline has signed rights to two new novels from Irish writer Emma Hannigan.

Irish and UK and Commonwealth rights were bought by Hachette Books Ireland and Headline in a deal with Sheila Crowley of Curtis Brown.

Headline will also publish two of Hannigan's books which have previously only been available in Ireland: Perfect Wives and Driving Home.

Ciara Doorley, editorial director of Hachette Books Ireland, said: "We've had amazing success publishing Emma in Ireland and are thrilled that Headline is now going to publish her in the UK so more readers can discover her." Sherise Hobbs, associate publisher at Headline, described Hannigan's books as "big, warm, juicy Irish family dramas".

The first book to be released will be a mass market paperback edition of Irish top 10 bestseller Driving Home for Christmas, which will be released in October 2013 by Headline in the UK and Hachette Books Ireland in Ireland.
