Head of Zeus has struck a six-figure deal for a thriller series by Stefan Ahnhem.
Laura Palmer, publishing director at Head of Zeus, bought UK and Commonwealth rights excluding Canada to the first three books of the Fabian Risk Series from Jolise Beaton and Gillian Fizet at House of Anansi Press.
The first three books in the series by Ahnhem are Victim Without a Face, The Ninth Grave and Stolen Identity. Ahnhem is also a screenwriter who co-wrote the Wallander TV series.
The first book, Victim Without a Face, has been published in Sweden, where it was the bestselling debut novel of 2014, and Germany, where it has appeared on the de Spiegel bestseller list.
Palmer said: "It's rare for a thriller to keep me up all night, but this one did. Victim Without a Face stars a maverick detective solving a string of hideously inventive murders in a Swedish seaside town. From an award-winning author and with a TV show in the works, this sensational novel is bound to be the must-read thriller of 2016."
Victim Without a Face will be published as an e-book in November this year and hardback in January 2016.
