HarperCollins has signed world rights to the autobiography of 16-year-old pop star Cody Simpson.
Anna Valentine, publishing director at Harper Non-Fiction, secured the title from Matt Graham at Scooter Braun Projects, Primary Wave and CAA. The book, Welcome to Paradise: My Journey, will be published on 24th October 2013.
Simpson began uploading songs to YouTube from his bedroom in Australia in 2009, and soon became a viral hit. He was quickly signed by Atlantic Records, and has since released EPs, an album, and toured with Justin Bieber. He has 4.2m Twitter and Facebook followers and will release a new album this spring.
Valentine said: "Cody Simpson is one of the most exciting up-and-coming artists of his generation and I'm thrilled to welcome him to HarperCollins. Having toured the world with Justin Bieber, Cody has thrilled millions of teenage fans with his chart-topping music and I'm excited for him to do the same with his debut book."
HarperCollins has previously published books from Bieber and other pop acts such as boy band One Direction.
Simpson said: "It's incredibly exciting for me to be partnering with HarperCollins to tell my story. I hope that my journey inspires kids from all around the world to pursue their passions and work hard for their dreams."
