HarperCollins has made a raft of new appointments, including former Little, Brown publishing strategy director Roger Cazalet as its associate publisher for HarperFiction, Blue Door and Voyager.
Bloomsbury's Penelope Beech has also been appointed marketing director, while Penguin and Michael Joseph project manager Ana Maria Riviera is to join as divisional sales director for non-fiction.
The publisher said Cazalet, who joins on 19th July, will be responsible for managing the marketing and PR departments, "providing a stronger connection between editorial and sales and marketing and overseeing the delivery of our vision and strategy for titles and authors".
Publisher Lynne Drew said: "Roger is a hugely respected figure in publishing. He has taken part in a number of industry-wide reviews and brings a wealth of experience to this senior role, as well as a fundamental understanding of authors' needs from his years as an editor before he made
the move into marketing."
Cazalet said: "I'm thrilled with this newly-created role. It allows me to draw on 10 years' editorial experience and seven years of strategic marketing, and I look forward with immense pleasure to bringing this knowledge to the service of HarperFiction's remarkable array of bestselling
authors."
Cazalet was most recently publishing strategy director at Little, Brown, which he left in June 2009 by mutual consent. He was previously group marketing director at the publisher.
Reporting to Cazalet is Penelope Beech, who has been appointed as marketing director. She joins after the summer. She is currently head of adult marketing of fiction and non-fiction at Bloomsbury, where she oversaw campaigns including Operation Mincemeat and Ordinary Thunderstorms. She will be responsible for analysis and brand work across the publisher's authors as well as for creative campaigns.
Beech said: "HarperFiction, Blue Door and Voyager publish incredible books. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with some of the most loved authors writing today, as well as the raft of dazzling new talent and the great literary estates of Agatha Christie and J R R Tolkien. I look
forward to being part of the team committed to building authors and reaching even more readers using new and innovative ways."
Ana Maria Rivera, currently project manager at Penguin and Michael Joseph, has been appointed divisional sales director for non-fiction. She will report to UK sales director Oliver Wright and will start on September 27th.
The publisher has also announced key accounts director Wendy Neale has been appointed
to the newly created role of trade sales director, reporting to Wright. She will work alongside the divisional sales director and the Irish sales director. HC said she will be responsible for "the co-ordination of HarperCollins UK Sales across the divisions; helping Oliver on strategic
direction and channel management; and working closely with Associate Publishers and Divisional Sales Directors".
Neale will also be in charge of the field sales team, trade sales administration and the newly appointed local marketing and events manager. Ben Hurd, formerly director of marketing and publicity for Press Books, has been appointed to this job.
Wright said: "Ana Maria, Wendy and Ben are all exceptionally strong and talented individuals and we’re delighted to be able to appoint them in their new roles. Their appointments now complete the senior roles within the divisional Sales Structure which we’ve recently unveiled giving us an
exceptionally strong sales team to build future success."
As previously reported, Paul Erdpresser was appointed divisional sales director for Press Books and Oliver Malcolm as divisional sales director for fiction. Kate Manning will continue to be in charge of sales for the children's division.
