HarperCollins Children’s Books will next year publish a new YA novel by Jenny Valentine.
Five Colour One, Valentine’s first novel in five years, tells the story of 16-year-old Iris, who is sent to live with the dying father she has never met.
HarperCollins acquired the UK and Commonwealth rights from the David Higham Agency, which is selling the foreign rights at the Frankfurt Book Fair this week.
Valentine’s debut novel, Finding Violet Park, was published in 2007 by HarperCollins Children’s Books. It won the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize that year and was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal and the Branford Boase Award.
She is also the author of three other YA novels: Broken Soup, The Ant Colony and The Double Life of Cassiel Roadnight.
HarperCollins Children’s Books will publish Fire Colour One in summer 2015.
