HarperCollins Children's Books has signed up three new titles from author Sarah Lean.
The writer's first novel A Dog Called Homeless, published in May 2012, was snapped up by HC in an auction with seven other publishers.
Lean's second novel, A Horse for Angel, is now set to be published in February next year, with UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, bought by HCB publishing director Rachel Denwood from Julia Churchill at Greenhouse Literary Agency.
The publisher said it would support publication with author tours and consumer marketing, making her a major author for nine to 11-year-olds. Denwood said: "Sarah is one of the most exciting and talented new writers to hit the children’s market for years and I am delighted to have cemented this long-term relationship with HarperCollins.”
Lean, who lives in Dorset with her family and animals, worked as a newspaper page-planner, stencil maker, gardener and primary school teacher before turning to writing.
