HarperCollins crime and thriller publisher Julia Wisdom has bought a "deeply disturbing" psychological suspense novel by Camilla Way [pictured], Watching Edie McCrae.
Wisdom bought UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) in the novel, plus a further book, from Hellie Ogden at Janklow & Nesbit.
Wisdom described Watching Edie McCrae as "a deeply disturbing suspense novel about friendship, deception, betrayal and violence." She said: "Told through the alternating voices of Edie and Heather, the story unfolds in an increasingly ominous and nail-biting narrative that shockingly overturns the reader's expectations. Camilla Way really understands both how to create unbearable tension and how to create complex but sympathetic characters who confound one at every turn."
Watching Edie McCrae will be published in hardback in August 2016.
Way is also the author of The Dead of Summer and Little Bird, also with HarperCollins.
