HarperCollins Children’s Books is publishing a new "showstopping" children's picture book from author–illustrator team David Walliams and Tony Ross, called The Creature Choir, in time for Christmas.
About a walrus who loves to sing, but unfortunately isn't very good at it, the book is described by HarperCollins as "a delightfully wonderful story that’s full of the festive feel good factor about doing what makes you happy, and being loud and proud about it".
It will publish on 12th December, in hardback (£12.99), e-book and audio.
The publishers' blurb reads: "Sing your heart out with this showstopping story of Warble the Walrus who loves to sing. Unfortunately, she is not very good at it! And when her atrocious warbling causes an avalanche the other walruses leave her all alone. But when you sing like no-one is listening sometimes they start to hear you…"
Walliams said: “The book is a celebration of doing what makes you happy, whether you are good at it or not. I hope it will delight my young readers this Christmas.”
HarperCollins Children’s Books executive publisher Ann-Janine Murtagh said: “The Creature Choir is a fabulous festive treat and a fitting finale to our Walliams publishing for this year. It is a joyful picture book that brings the magic of words and pictures together with a wonderful happy heart and inspirational message. How brilliant that David and Tony have given us the gift of a beautiful picture book to share with all the family this Christmas.”
Already Walliams has spent nine weeks in the UK Official Top 50 number one spot: two for Fing and seven for The World’s Worst Teachers. To date through Nielsen BookScan he has sold 17.25 million books to date for £99.88m. His bestseller is Gangsta Granny, currently on 1.35 million copies sold.
His sci-fi fantasy novel, The Beast of Buckingham Palace, is due out in hardback this week on 21st November.
