HarperCollins has announced plans to release what it describes as a “major” new series of novels set during the Second World War.
The publisher will release the first four books in a series called Churchill’s Angels, written by author Ruby Jackson.
Kate Bradley at HarperFiction bought full world rights (all languages) for the series from agent Teresa Chris.
They follow four young women from a town in Kent who each join the services during the war. Each book will follow the individual girls, with all the narratives dovetailing together. The first book will be released in May 2013, with the subsequent titles published in six-monthly intervals.
Bradley said: "Churchill’s Angels is a really important acquisition for us and we will be positioning the series to compete with the biggest names in the genre.”
