Haynes has reported drop in sales in the second quarter of the current financial year (to 31st May 2009), due to the "worsening economic environment", and has predicted an "adverse impact" on trading results for the first six months.
In a trading update, the company stressed, however, that it continued "to be a very profitable and cash generative business".
Earlier in the week, the motor manuals publisher said it was in consultation with the employees of its UK book manufacturing business over the sale of its printing wing. The group has received an offer from JF Print to acquire the division. Haynes' board said talks were "ongoing" with the print firm, adding it would be "inappropriate to speculate on the final outcome of these discussions".
