The Hay Festival is launching a series of video lectures aimed at A-level students.
The lectures, entitled “Hay Levels”, are a series of free 5-15 minutes films featuring academics and thinkers such as Simon Schama, Sarah Churchill and Marcus de Sautoy.
Peter Florence, director of Hay Festival, said: “We are lucky to have outstanding university partners and access to the great academics of our day, whose lectures are hugely enjoyed by our audiences. We wanted to share this opportunity with even more people. Hay Levels are the result.”
The films focus on different academic subjects, including English, Economics, Law, Maths, Religion and History, and the first 25 videos are on the dedicated YouTube channel now, with speakers such as Steve Jones, professor of genetics at UCL, Tristram Hunt, shadow secretary of state for education and professor of history at Queen Mary London, and Carwyn Jones, the first minister of Wales.
Hay Festival will then release 10 new films every Tuesday for the rest of the term.
Hay Levels are supported by Hay Festival partners the Tata Group and the British Council, and were developed in collaboration with Hereford Sixth Form College.
