Harvill Secker buys Larsen d

<p>Harvill Secker has fought off bids from eight other UK publishers to acquire UK &amp; Commonwealth rights to Reif Larsen&#39;s d&eacute;but novel, <em>The Selected Works of T S Spivet</em>, in a deal with Judith Murray at Greene &amp; Heaton on behalf of the Denise Shannon Literary Agency in New York.</p><p><em>The Selected Works of T S Spivet</em> is the story of a 12-year-old genius mapmaker from Montana. It contains illustrations, maps and diagrams, all created by the author. </p><p>Stuart Williams, senior editor at Harvill Secker said: &quot;It is a perfect gem of a novel &ndash; funny, wildly ingenious and very charming &ndash; a true one-off which defies comparisons.&quot;</p><p>Harvill Secker will publish the book in June 2009.</p>
