Harvill Secker acquires Parks memoir

Harvill Secker has acquired a memoir from non-fiction writer and Booker-shortlisted novelist Tim Parks.<br />&nbsp;<br />Liz Foley, Harvill Secker publishing director, acquired <em>Teach us to Sit Still: A Sceptic&rsquo;s Search for Health and Healing</em> from agent Antony Harwood.<br />&nbsp;<br />The book charts Parks&rsquo; experiences of a mystery illness which leads him to confront difficult truths about the relationship between the mind and the body, the modern world and his life as a writer.<br />&nbsp;<br />Publication in July 2010 will be accompanied by a major publicity and marketing campaign. Parks&rsquo; &ldquo;Italian series&rdquo; backlist titles will all be reissued by Vintage on 6th May, comprising <em>An Italian Education, Italian Neighbours</em> and <em>A Season with Verona.</em><br />&nbsp; <br />Foley said &ldquo;This is a book about a life-changing experience that could change the lives of its readers.<br /><br />&quot;It manages to be both an intensely personal, and brutally honest, memoir and a universal story for our times and we believe it will take Tim Parks&rsquo; work to a whole new readership.&quot;
