In a six-figure deal, Martha Ashby, editor, and Kimberley Young, publisher, at HarperCollins have acquired world rights to three more novels from Sunday Times bestseller Mhairi McFarlane, from Doug Kean at the Gunn Media Agency, to be published at HarperFiction.
McFarlane is the author of Kindle bestseller You Had Me At Hello - with sales put at over quarter of a million copies - Here’s Looking at You and It’s Not Me, It’s You.
Her fourth book from Harper, Who’s That Girl?, is due for publication in spring 2016.
McFarlane has since sold rights to her books in over 20 territories and is described as a “a key part of the new HarperCollins international publishing programme”. She has six HarperCollins territories now on board to publish her around the world, in addition to 18 other non-HC territories.
HC c.e.o. Charlie Redmayne said: “We’re delighted to have such an internationally successful author featured in our HarperCollins International programme, with half a dozen offices snapping her up and more to come on board in the future. Mhairi is the perfect example of what a truly international company can do, with joined up editorial, sales and marketing leading a strategic global publishing programme.”
