HarperCollins Children’s Books has landed three more titles in Pages & Co, the middle grade "bookwandering" series from Anna James.
World rights in the three books, which will take Pages & Co to 2024, were acquired by fiction publisher Nick Lake from Claire Wilson at Rogers, Coleridge & White in a "major deal".
Pages & Co: Tilly and the Bookwanderers was first published in 2018, selling 8,748 in hardback and 15,473 copies in paperback through the TCM. Publishing annually, the series has gone on to become an international bestseller and is now translated into 11 languages. Book three, currently untitled, will be published in autumn 2020.
The publisher said: "A magical adventure to thrill any book lover, Pages & Co is a curl-up-on-the-sofa delight from the unique imagination of Anna James. A world where books and stories come to vivid life and the irrepressible Tilly, Oskar – and new character Milo – venture into them, travelling deeper inside stories than they've ever gone before."
James is a writer and journalist living in London who was previously book news editor at The Bookseller and literary editor of Elle UK. She has also written for the Pool, the LA Times, the Financial Times and the Independent, as well as making bookish YouTube videos as A Case For Books.
She said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be able to keep exploring the world of bookwandering with HarperCollins, who have been such supporters of the books from the outset. I'm excited to work with Nick on seeing how far the world goes, and how many Borges jokes he lets me keep in.”
Lake added: “Anna James is a born storyteller, and Pages & Co is the kind of immersive story that every reader dreams of getting lost in. We are utterly delighted that Anna is continuing the adventure with HarperCollins, as we bring this unique magical world to children all over the globe.”
