HarperCollins has bought four books by Louise Voss and Mark Edwards, whose self-published novels have been Amazon Kindle bestsellers, in a six-figure, pre-empt deal.
Commissioning editor Kate Bradley bought world rights from agent Sam Copeland at Rogers, Coleridge & White.
The first book, Catch Your Death, will be published as a physical edition in spring 2012 with future publication dates to be confirmed. The book is an Amazon Kindle bestseller, selling 42,000 copies in June, according to the publisher. The books will remain online as e-books, republished by HarperCollins.
Bradley said: "They are writing clever, fast-paced, psychological thrillers that are highly addictive and we can't wait to get these out into the wider world."
In a blog for FutureBook, Edwards said: "Being an indie writer is great – I recommend it to anyone with a book in their drawer – and Louise is about to self-publish her four solo novels. We will always feel part of that world. But we want our novels to appear as real books, not least because, right now, most people read on paper. We want our books to reach the widest audience possible."
