HarperCollins is to launch a new line of unabridged audio books, HarperAudio Uncut, with the aim of expanding the number of titles available to the trade and library market. Among the authors to feature in the new HarperCollins unabridged audio line launching in February 2009 are Bernard Cornwell, Conn Iggulden, and Cecelia Ahern.
HarperAudio is partnering with Oakhill Publishing for the distribution of the unabridged audio into the library market, while all digital and trade sales are to be handled by HarperCollins. Oakhill's founder, Julian Batson said he hoped the deal with HarperCollins would "maximise the potential of all these titles across all audio platforms".
The line was designed in response to customer demand, the company said. David Roth-Ey, director of digital business development at the publisher, said: "With the recent phenomenal growth in the digital download market, coupled with Oakhill's reach into libraries, Harper Audio Uncut will be able to give consumers more of what they want."
Amanda Ridout, managing director of HarperCollins, added: "HarperCollins can now offer a full unabridged audio publishing service not only to consumers but also to our author community both in physical and digital form. We look forward to building an impressive list for the future."
