Harlequin has signed a three-book deal with debut novelist Annabel Kantaria, through agent Luigi Bonomi.
Kantaria was awarded the book deal after winning the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature’s Montegrappa First Fiction competition in 2013, which was judged by Bonomi.
Kantaria’s first novel Coming Home features a protagonist who uncovers dark secrets following the death of her father. Editor Sally Williamson said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be publishing Annabel on the MIRA list at Harlequin. Her riveting and emotional story of secrets and shame immediately stood out to me and had the entire team here hooked.”
Bonomi added: “She is a naturally talented author and I am thrilled she received such a great commitment from a publishing house.”
Last year’s runner-up Rachel Hamilton also won a two-book deal with Simon & Schuster. Her children’s novel The Case of the Exploding Loo will be published in May.
