Crime thriller author Lisa Hall has signed a two-book deal with HarperCollins imprint HQ for a "good five-figure sum".
HQ publishing director Kate Mills acquired world all language rights for the two books "for a good five-figure sum" from Lisa Moylett at Coombs Moylett Maclean Agency, said the publisher.
The first book, The Second Mrs Milligan, will publish in Spring 2020, exploring a widower’s fledgling relationship in the wake of his wife’s death. A second novel will follow at a later date. According to Nielsen, Halls has sold 37,813 books with her bestselling being Between You and Me, which sold 24,763 copies in paperback.
Mills said: "Lisa Hall is a firm favourite at HQ – a hugely commercial storyteller who creates breathless thrillers peopled with characters we recognise and rooted in situations we know. She is the queen of the threat within – peeling away the layers of respectability in suburbia to reveal darker truths. The Second Mrs Milligan will be a warning to anyone who’s fallen for a stranger – Dirty John meets a modern-day Rebecca. It’s utterly compelling and delivers a terrific final blow, and Lisa’s legion of fans will love it. Lisa and HQ launched in the same year, so we’re delighted to be continuing our journey with her."
Hall added: "I am utterly thrilled to have signed for another two books with HQ. I am so lucky to have the support of such an incredible team there, and I cannot wait to continue working with them."
