Orion has bought world rights to two television tie-in books from chefs the Hairy Bikers. Amanda Harris, non-fiction editorial director at Orion, bought the books from Charles Walker at United Agents for an undisclosed sum.
The books will be published by Weidenfeld & Nicolson. The first will be released in January and is entitled The Hairy Bikers' Family Cookbook: Mums Know Best. The book ties in with a BBC Two series, which follows Si and Dave as they conduct a nationwide search for Britain's lost recipes.
The second book will be released in October 2010 and will be a Christmas recipe book. A Christmas special will be broadcast on BBC Two in mid-December and the book will feature traditional favourites and reinvented classics.
Harris said: "We have been thrilled by the response to The Hairy Bikers' Food Tour of Britain [published by W&N in September] and we have two very special books coming from Dave and Si in 2010. The Hairy Bikers' Family Cookbook: Mums Know Best includes very personal family recipes and is written straight from the heart to their fans.
"Their second cookbook will be a celebration of Christmas food, filled to the brim with classic and new recipes that comfort, celebrate, taste delicious and that readers will want to cook."
