Lauren Hadden is the new editor for The Bookseller’s sister consumer books magazine We Love This Book.
Bookseller Group m.d. Nigel Roby said there had been "many great people brimming with ideas to develop the magazine", but that "Lauren stood out with her energy, technical skills and a passion to build on what the magazine has already achieved.”
Hadden started her career as a children’s section manager at Eason’s and had the role of culture and books editor on Ireland’s Image magazine. She has also worked for Transworld Ireland and the Lisa Richards Agency in Dublin.
Hadden said: “I feel the same way about books as Duke Ellington did about music—there are only two kinds: good and bad. This is exactly the We Love This Book ethos. I can’t wait to bring the excitement of great writing to more readers in an entertaining, distinctive and accessible way.”
Launched in July 2011, We Love This Book has rapidly become the UK’s brightest and best books magazine featuring short stories from the likes of Joanne Harris, David Mitchell and Madeline Miller. Contributors to the magazine have included Peter James, Shirley Hughes, Eowyn Ivey and Linwood Barclay, with Tony Blair, Michael Palin and Jeremy Paxman among those who have picked their "Desert Island Books" choices.
Hadden joins the title on 14th November and can be contacted on lauren.hadden@bookseller.co.uk.
