Hachette Ireland's editorial director Ciara Doorley has acquired world rights to two legal thrillers from Irish author Catherine Kirwan, in a deal made with Luigi Bonomi of LBA Books.
The first book in the deal, Cruel Deeds, will be published in spring 2022 and will tell the story of solicitor Finn Fitzpatrick who is tasked with investigating the files of a senior partner at her law firm who was found murdered in an abandoned house in Cork city.
Doorley said: "I was gripped by Catherine’s first book Darkest Truth and we’re very excited to be working with her at Hachette. Assured, confident, twisty crime with an unapologetic heroine—what more could you ask?"
Kirwan commented: "I’m delighted that this news is out at last. I’m thrilled to be working Ciara and everyone at Hachette and, as ever, very grateful to Luigi, Alison and all at LBA."
The author grew up on a farm in the parish of Fews, County Waterford. She studied law at University College Cork and still lives in the city, where she works as a solicitor. Her debut, Darkest Truth, was published by Arrow in 2019.
