The editor of the London Evening Standard, Geordie Greig, is to chair the panel of judges for the overall 2011 Costa Book of the year award, given on 24th January.
Other judges on the panel include actors Hugh Dennis, Dervia Kirwan and broadcaster Mary Nightingale. The five category judging panels will be represented by authors Jojo Moyes, Patrick Gale, Flora Fraser, William Fiennes and Eleanor Updale.
The winners in Costa's five literary categories - novel, first novel, biography, poetry and children's - will be announced on 4th January, with Man Booker Prize winner Julian Barnes and poet laureate Carol Ann Duffy among the authors in contention this year.
The winner in each category receives £5,000, and then one of the five winning books is selected as the overall Costa Book of the Year, receiving a further £30,000.
