Green light for Liverpool Central Library overhaul

<p>Plans for a &pound;50m overhaul of Liverpool&#39;s Central Library are expected to get the go-ahead tomorrow (12th January), according to a report in the <a href=" target="_blank"><em>Architect&#39;s Journal.</em></a> </p><p>City councillors are being recommended to approve the plans, which will include a major refurbishment including a new rooftop atrium and terrace. </p><p>The development will also lead to the library housing 14km of archives from the Liverpool Record Office. Liverpool council leader Warren Bradley said: &quot;This is the biggest ever single investment in the city&#39;s library service and will create a stunning building the whole city can be proud of.&quot; </p><p>The project is planned to start in June 2010.</p>
