Granta magazine is to launch an Italian language edition, published through Rizzoli, on 14th May.
The development means the magazine will now be available in three European languages aside from English.
Granta Italia's first edition will be devoted to the theme of work, taking articles originally published in English in Granta 109, but with the addition of new pieces from contemporary Italian writers including Silvia Avallone, Michela Murgia and Giuseppe Catozella.
Editor John Freeman said: "Our publishing partners in Brazil and Spain have been invaluable in opening the world to us at Granta, and I'm thrilled Paolo Zaninoni at Rizzoli will be joining this larger project. It helps us create a new space for translation, bringing the best of Granta to Italy's readers."
Zaninoni added Rizzoli was confident Granta Italia would "open new opportunities on the international scene for important voices in Italian fiction".
