Linda Grant has won the Literature award at the “South Bank Show” awards which took place last night in London.
She won the accolade for her Man Booker-shortlisted book The Clothes on Their Backs (Virago), beating competition from Tob Rob Smith’s Child 44 (Simon & Schuster) and Kate Summerscale’s The Suspicions of Mr Whicher (Bloomsbury).
Other winners include the Donmar Warehouse winning for their production of Othello, starring Ewan McGregor, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Kelly Reilly. The visual arts prize went to the Peter Doig exhibition at the Tate Britain and the film prize went to Hunger from Steve McQueen.
