Gollancz has released full details of the author events taking place at The Gollancz Festival 2014, being held in conjunction with Waterstones Piccadilly.
The festival, run by Orion’s science fiction and fantasy imprint, will take place at the bookstore, and will also feature a series of online events for those who cannot attend in person.
Patrick Rothfuss, author of The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man’s Fear, will give a reading. This will be followed by a series of panel events covering the sense of wonderment in SF, the elements of SFF that make it impossible to cross genre boundaries, and whether fantasy, by definition, is consolatory.
Meanwhile a separate stream will be devoted to Gollancz’s debut novelists. Joanne M Harris will discuss the use of different narratives as a means of exploring stories, while Joe Hill will share an insight into having your work become a Hollywood film, and Rothfuss will give a solo talk and audience Q&A.
The festival will also include performances of SFF inspired songs from The Bookshop Band.
Gollancz will also give out goodie bags to ticket holders, which will contain two Gollancz novels and an exclusive bookplate for Rothfuss’ The Slow Regard of Silent Things.
Full information about the festival can be found online, and people can sign up to be told about digital events as details are released.
