The estate of Thunderbirds creator Gerry Anderson will use crowd-funding site Kickstarter to try and launch a new book series.
Anderson [pictured] is the creator of TV puppet shows such as "Thunderbirds", "Stingray" and "Captain Scarlet".
Author M G Harris will complete the book series Gemini Force One (GF1), originally started by Anderson in 2008, before his death in 2012. GF1 follows a secret organisation which undertakes rescues, averts disasters and foils terrorist attempts.
Anderson's younger son, Jamie, said using Kickstarter would allow the project "to be absolutely faithful" to his father's vision.
The funding begins today, and seeks to raise £24,350 in the next 30 days. If successful, the books will be self-published, released initially to backers of the project in April next year, with a full launch in August. The money will pay for the print of the books, a fee for Harris, a cover designer, production of an audio version and marketing.
A backer who donates £5,000 can have their name used as one of the main characters in the book, while other backers will receive rewards such as signed editions, trips to Pinewood Studios and personal dedications in the book.
Harris is the author of The Joshua Files series of books, published by Scholastic.
