Granta has acquired The Earlie King and The Kid in Yellow, a debut novel by Irish writer Danny Denton.
Editorial director Max Porter acquired world English language rights from Lucy Luck at Aitken Alexander.
Porter said: “This is a blast, this book. It’s a gangster ballad, a love story, a dystopian vision of a flooded Ireland stalked by Mister Violence. It’s full of extraordinary poetry, myth and dark hearted theatre. If Quentin Tarantino, Sean O’Casey’s ghost and Tom Waits collaborated on a medieval miracle play they might birth Danny’s book.”
Granta will publish The Earlie King and The Kid in Yellow in 2018.
