F&W looks to UK acquisition

<p>Liz Bury</p><p>David&amp;Charles Group, the publisher and specialist book clubs operator based in Newton Abbot, Devon, has bolstered profits by closing low margin book clubs and streamlining its publishing.</p><p>Figures released by Cincinnati-based parent company F&W Publications show a rise in operating profit of 55% to &#163;1.4m for the year to end-December 2002. Sales of &#163;18.8m were said to be marginally up on the previous year, although no comparative figures were given.
