Funders have flocked to fund Marcus Gipps' project to publish J P Martin's Uncle stories on Kickstarter.
Bidding went live yesterday afternoon (27th March), with Gipps' original target of £7,000 swiftly reached. This morning pledged funds exceed £12,000.
Gipps said the reaction had exceeded his expectations. "I was pretty sure we'd reach our target but I thought it would be a bit of a slog," he said. "Now I have to sit down and crunch the numbers. It means I can pay for proper art scanning for all the pieces, and expand the print run."
Gipps, by day a Gollancz editor, has developed a personal project to bring the neglected Uncle stories, about a millionaire elephant, illustrated by Quentin Blake, back into print.
