Freeman and Aspden to leave Octopus as Goff takes helm

<p>Octopus Publishing Group has announced the retirement of c.e.o. Derek Freeman and the resignation of Jane Aspden, publisher and m.d. of Mitchell Beazley, Miller's Publications and Conran Octopus.

Freeman is to be succeeded by Alison Goff, m.d. of Octopus' Hamlyn, Cassell Illustrated, Bounty, Godsfield and Gaia divisions. She will take on her new responsibilities from 20th June.

Freeman will act as a consultant to the company from that time, and will retire by the end of the year. He joined the former parent company of Octopus in 1975, and led the management buyout of the business in 1998...
