Foyles buys TheBookplace.com

<p>Foyles has bought online bookseller Bookplace Ltd. The company runs two websites--thebookplace.com and computerbooks.co.uk.
Bookplace was set up in 2003 after former parent Hammicks was acquired by Ottakars. Since then, it has traded under the management of Ian Ramsden-Morris and Chris Dodd.
The Bookplace grew sales by 35% in its first full year of independence to &#163;945,000, with a "marginal" operating profit, in the year to end-July 2004. Bookplace also grew its bespoke publisher business, taking on online fulfilment for Accent Press, Black Amber, Black Dog, Faber, Giles De La Mare,...
