HQ senior commissioning editor Kate Fox has been promoted to editorial director for non-fiction.
Fox joined the HarperCollins imprint in August 2018 from her role as commissioning editor at Watkins Publishing having previously been BBC Books editor at Ebury. She will report into editorial director Rachel Kenny who returned from maternity leave in September.
“I am thrilled to be stepping up at HQ, such a young, can-do, commercial imprint,” Fox said. “I love working with such brilliant brands and authors already, and I’m excited to be part of this next ambitious chapter in our story.”
Fox’s successes include the bestselling Bosh! brand and The Prison Doctor. Her upcoming titles include the first book from skincare queen Caroline Hirons and The Batch Lady from Scottish social media star Suzanne Mulholland. She will be acquiring across cookery, lifestyle, self-help and memoir, looking for “thought leaders, underrepresented voices and real-life experiences”.
Kenny said: “Over the last year, Kate has distinguished herself as a hugely talented editor, becoming an essential member of the HQ team. She has excellent instincts and has played an integral role in the successes across the list. I’m delighted we can recognise her contribution with a permanent position and richly-deserved promotion.”
