Phaidon Press has appointed Keith Fox as its new c.e.o.
Fox joins Phaidon from McGraw Hill Financial, where he was president of the business's construction division, overseeing brands such as Architectural Record and Engineering News Record. He has previously been president of BusinessWeek and McGraw Hill Professional, as well as working at Reader's Digest and Unilever.
Phaidon is owned by the family of Debra and Leon Black, chairs of private equity firm Apollo Global Management. In a statement, they said of Fox: "He brings a unique combination of his personal appreciation of the arts coupled with a proven history of leading and advancing successful global brands."
Fox said he was keen to advance digital at the arts publisher. He said: "I am honoured to be joining Phaidon and humbled by the trust the Black family has placed in me. I look forward to enhancing Phaidon's brand as the world's premier fine arts publisher and driving profitable growth through innovation and digital platforms."
He will be based at Phaidon's New York office.
Phaidon was bought by Black and family in October 2012, after previous owner Richard Schlagman put it up for sale. Amanda Ridout joined as m.d. in 2010, leaving at the beginning of 2013 before joining Head of Zeus. Fox takes over the c.e.o. role from David Davies, who left in November 2013.
