Man Booker-shortlisted author Adam Foulds has won the Literature prize at the final Southbank Show Awards, which took place today.
Foulds won for his novel The Quickening Maze (Jonathan Cape), beating fellow Man Booker shortlisted novel The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters (Virago), and Peter Akinti’s Forest Gate (also Jonathan Cape). Foulds was presented his award by crime author P D James.
Other prizes included the “TV Drama” award, which went to the Channel 4 adaptation of David Peace’s Red Riding novels.
Host, presenter and author, Melvyn Bragg received the Outstanding Achievement Award from Sir David Attenborough.
The show will be broadcast on ITV1 on 31st January.
