Former publisher and editor of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Rebecca Saletan, has been appointed editorial director of Riverhead Books, according to the Associated Press.
Saletan resigned from HMH last month amid "extensive" redundancies and "restricted acquisitions of new books", the AP said. Riverhead is the Canadian home to authors such as Khaled Hosseini and Junot Diaz.
The wire said her departure from HMH "was widely seen as a protest of Houghton's policies".
She will begin her new job in March.
