Canongate will be offering an e-book and physical book bundle for readers of Ruth Ozeki's new novel, A Tale for the Time Being.
The publisher had already disclosed its plansto release the book in all formats simultaneously on 11th March - with the hardback priced £20, the paperback priced £7.99, the audio digital download priced £13.99 and the e-book at £7.99 - and will use Blippar technology to create an interactive book jacket, brought to life through a phone or tablet screen.
However, the publisher has confirmed it will provide the reader with a free e-book of the title when the consumer buys the hardback book from Canongate's website, bundling together the two formats.
Canongate worked with music design agency Big Active on the visual elements of the campaign, with the same images featuring across all formats and on all marketing. Canongate art director Rafi Romaya said: "This multiple format release model recalled the experimentation which has taken place in the music industry in recent years, whilst publishing is working through equivalent changes. We wanted to collaborate with a team that would be experienced in this and fully open to working towards bespoke on mulitple platforms from inception."
