Flammarion chief executive Teresa Cremisi has been appointed chief of RCS Libri, which comprises all the publishing houses and imprints of Italian parent company RCS MediaGroup. These include Rizzoli, Bompiani, BUR, Sonzogno, Fabbri, Adelphi, Marsilio and RL, a joint venture with the Mauri Spagnol Group.
Cremisi, who became Flammarion c.e.o. in 2005, will remain in the post and will continue to be based in Paris. She replaces Giulio Lattanzi and was already a board member of RCS MediaGroup, which acquired the French publisher in 2001.
RCS Libri’s turnover dropped 16% to €579m in 2009 from €690m, and its operating profit slumped 43.2% from €53.7m to €30.5ms. It attributed most of the decline in turnover to a planned reduction in part-works and changes in the publishing schedule of Italian fiction and non-fiction. The
RCS Media Group made a net loss of €129.7m.
