Random House has confirmed what Alastair Campbell revealed on last night's "Newsnight" - that the first volume of his unedited diaries is to be published next month.
The Alastair Campbell Diaries: Prelude to Power 1994-1997 (3rd June, h/b, £25) will open with the death of former Labour leader John Smith on May 12th 1994 and culminate in Labour's victory in the polls in 1997.
Cornerstone publicity director Charlotte Bush said: "The Blair Years was a taster. Alastair always said he wanted to publish the full version of his diaries, though we've no further comment to make on the timing. A diary is a diary, it's not edited and it's what Alastair recorded at the time."
Campbell will be promoting the release.
