Welsh publisher Firefly has acquired a host of new children’s and YA titles for 2015.
In the YA category, the publisher has acquired The Territory by Sarah Govett, a fantasy thriller set in a Britain where most of the land is flooded, and The Boy Who Drew the Future by Rhian Ivory, about two boys trying to escape the past of their village, which was once renowned for witchcraft.
Firefly acquired world English rights to The Territory from the Rupert Heath Literary Agency, and world English rights to The Boy Who Drew the Future from Kirsty McLachlan at David Godwin Associates.
The publisher has also acquired White Petals, set in the South Wales Valleys, directly from local author Maria Grace.
In the 7-9 range, Firefly will also next year publish Elen’s Island by debut author Eloise Williams and Steve and the Singing Pirates, the second book in the Steve’s Dreams series by Dan Anthony.
Firefly Press launched at the Hay Festival in 2013.
