Production company Killer Content has acquired the film rights to Louise O’Neill’s award winning YA novel Only Ever Yours.
Killer Content did not reveal its specific plans for the film on its blog but will look to develop the property as a film and TV series, according to Variety magazine, and will finance the project alongside the non-profit organisation Two Brass Brads, which creates "socially relevant content".
Only Ever Yours, which is published by Quercus, won The Bookseller’s inaugural YA Book Prize in March this year and was described by judge Rick O’Shea as “one of the best speculative fiction books” in years. “It pushes the boundaries of contemporary YA,” he said. “I'll be pressing it into the hands of anyone who might read it."
O’Neill’s second novel, Asking for It, is about rape and was published earlier this month.
Her agent is Rachel Conway of Georgina Capel Associates.
