Fig Tree has signed up rights to a novel by the editor of British Vogue.
Juliet Annan, publishing director of Fig Tree, said she "jumped" on the book, after only seeing the first third.
Annan snapped up world English territories to the untitled work by Alexandra Shulman from Eugenie Furniss at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment for an undisclosed sum.
The story follows the fortunes of three women friends who graduate from university together in the 1980s.
Annan described what she had read so far as "a completely engrossing and emotionally absorbing story of a very particular generation of women and fascinating on the complexities and pull of female friendship".
Fig Tree will publish in 2012.
