Pan Macmillan imprint Mantle has announced the fifth and final novel in Elizabeth Jane Howard’s Cazalet Chronicles.
The news came last night (26th March), Howard’s 90th birthday.
All Change, the last book in the quintet, will be published on 7th November 2013. It follows The Light Years, Marking Time, Casting Off and Confusion, and will complete the story of the wealthy Cazalet family, picking up their tale in the 1950s.
The previous books are currently being serialised on BBC Radio 4’s "Woman’s Hour" drama slot, with further adaptations to come during the year.
Maria Rejt, Mantle publisher and Howard’s editor, said: “Not only does All Change bring to a triumphant close the story of the Cazalet family, it marks yet another high point in the career of one of our truly great writers. In this quintet of novels EJH evokes a time long gone but with a vividness and humanity that brings the past back to life with a thrilling immediacy and searing compassion.
"It is truly one of the great literary portraits of a bygone age.”
