Penguin has been wishing shoppers "seasons readings" with book giveaways in Manchester and London as part of a new Christmas campaign.
Marking its 80th anniversary, the "Penguin Festive Selection Box" is a 2.5m high literary pop-up stand offering thousands of books to be won.
Between 9am and 6pm on Saturday 19th December, the literary "selection box" will be erected at London Paddington Sation, as it was in Manchester Piccadilly Station last Saturday, 12th December, for its debut (pictured).
Boasting "something for everyone this Christmas", the selection includes 20 new, classic and audio books - from romances to cookbooks to thrillers - and visitors will be able to win on-the-spot book prizes and have the chance to win the whole collection.
Those unable to get to the station physically can take part online by browsing the books on @PenguinUKbooks and using the hashtag #DearPenguin on Twitter and Instagram to tell Penguin which book they'd like to win for Christmas.
Claire Wilshaw, audience development director for PRH UK, said: “For 80 years, Penguin has been capturing readers’ imaginations with incredible writing and stories; so we couldn’t think of a better way to end our special year than with this bumper festive giveaway.”
Hannah Telfer, PRH's group director of consumer and digital development, added: “2015 has seen our Penguin-led consumer strategy go from strength-to-strength with the launch of the Penguin Platform for young readers, the new Penguin Podcast with Richard E Grant, our Summer of Penguin partnership with Transport for London and Penguin Pop Up Shop at BoxPark, combined with the our award winning social and email marketing. Our ‘seasons readings’ Christmas campaign will mark the end of a fantastic year where Penguin’s 80th has allowed us to celebrate books we love from across Penguin Random House.”
