The Southbank Centre's head of literature and the spoken word Rachel Holmes is among eight women working in the literature field who have been chosen as Women to Watch in the Cultural Leadership programme. However no women in publishing figure on the 50-strong list.
Discover director Sally Goldsworthy, Tate library collection manager Maxine Miller, Renaissance One
and Tilt director Melanie Abrahams, Extant artistic director Maria Oshodi, National Theatre writer-in-residence Moira Buffini, and the Royal Shakespeare Company's director of events and exhibitions Geraldine Collinge and its director of education Jacqui O'Hanlon are also named.
The list was compiled to "celebrate the achievements of some of the most ambitious and talented women in the cultural and creative industries or other sectors" by the Cultural Leadership programme which is supported by Arts Council England, Creative & Cultural Skills, and the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council.
The chair of the judging panel was broadcaster Jenni Murray.
