HarperCollins imprint HQ has snapped up two more thrillers by Alice Feeney in a new six-figure deal.
Editorial director Manpreet Grewal acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Jonny Geller at Curtis Brown for His & Hers and one other novel.
His & Hers will be published in mass market paperback, ebook and audio in Spring 2020. The second book in the new contract will follow in 2021.
US rights for the thrillers - Feeney's third and fourth books - have already been sold to Amy Einhorn at Flatiron in a high six-figure deal, with offers ongoing in Europe.
"Narrated by Anna who works at the BBC and her ex-husband, Jack, a police detective, His & Hers explores what happens when their lives become entwined again after the brutal murder of a mutual friend," said HQ. "As both stories converge a secret emerges that bonds the victims of a killer who is hell bent on seeking retribution for a decades-old betrayal."
Feeney’s debut, Sometimes I Lie, was a New York Times and international bestseller, selling 28,201 copies to date since its release in 2017, according to Nielsen. It has been translated into more than 20 languages, and is currently being made into a TV series by Ellen DeGeneres and Warner Brothers starring Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Her second novel, I Know Who You Are, published on 16th May, has sold more than 10,000 paperbacks in ten days, according to Nielsen Bookscan.
Grewal said: “Alice is a class act, and her novels are an essential addition to the psychological thriller market. Her sophisticated and twisted storytelling has caught the attention of readers all over the world and I’m thrilled to be working with Alice and Jonny on more books. His & Hers is Alice’s best and most thrilling book to date and I can’t wait for everyone to read it and become as obsessed with it as I am.”
Feeney, a Faber Academy graduate, added: “After almost ten years of rejections, there were times when I thought I might never have one book published, let alone four. I’m so grateful to the agents, publishers, booksellers and above all readers, who have made it possible for me to keep the best job in the world a while longer! I loved writing His & Hers, I can’t wait to work with the brilliant HQ team at HarperCollins again, and I’m so thankful to everyone who made this dream come true.”
