Miriam Farbey has been made publisher at Scholastic UK, as part of a series of changes at Scholastic's editorial team.
Farbey [pictured], who will begin the role on 6th March, will lead the publishing and design team. Reporting to her will be Alison Green, publisher at Alison Green books, editorial director for non-fiction Elizabeth Scoggins, and licensing scout Maya Maraj.
In a newly created role, Samantha Smith will become fiction and picture books publisher, working with Pauliina Malinen Teodoro, editorial director picture books. Farbey and the sales, marketing and production teams will report to Catherine Bell, co-group m.d.
Farbey joined Scholastic in 2010, after being global publisher at DK. She said that in her new role: "We will continue to reimagine how to get picture books, fiction, non-fiction and licensed publishing into the hands of today's kids, in all the places and ways they are now experiencing reading."
Bell said: "Miriam is a truly creative publisher who will lead our publishing team in acquiring and building UK and global bestsellers. Our child-centric approach and relentless market feedback complements Miriam's publishing background and creative skill."
As publisher, Farbey will also retain responsibility for global non-fiction publishing, reporting jointly to Bell and Ellie Berger president of Scholastic's trade division in the US.
