Faber has signed two crime novels from debut author Sarah Ward.
Crime editor Katherine Armstrong signed world rights from Kirsty McLachlan at David Godwin Associates for the novel In Bitter Chill and a second, unnamed book.
In Bitter Chill follows the story of two girls who are abducted in 1970s Derbyshire, with only one returning home. Years later, the mother of the missing girl commits suicide, opening old wounds for the girl who came back.
Armstrong said: "This is a compelling debut from a new and exciting voice and it struck a chord with me from the moment I started reading… It’s a story about loss and secrets – those we tell ourselves and those we tell each other."
Ward is an online book reviewer and blogger for the crime fiction website, Crimepieces.
In Bitter Chill will be released as a trade paperback and e-book in summer 2015.
